Progress Report

Here's a collection progress report. I've been working on the leather fringe jacket as well as the handbags for some of the looks. I'm working on a leather and chain handbag and have finished a denim clutch.

Motorcycle Groupie: The Sketches

Since my last post I've been doing some sketching and trying to work on this new motorcycle inspired collection. My first sketches really took on a 70s feel(which I love), but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it wasn't reflecting my new mood. Since my design aesthetic has become more influenced by rock music, I've noticed my collections sort of straddled the line between a hard rock edge and a softer feminine aesthetic.

Motocrossed

In my last post I was looking to build a voodoo inspired collection. Since then, the more I continue to sketch, I have seen my designs pull away from the voodoo inspiration to a more 60s motorcycle theme. Though I feel guilty about dropping the voodoo theme, I realize that this theme feels more organic and less forced. I really have a flow of ideas coming so I'm going to keep going along this road and see what I come up with. I'm really interested in using more denim in this collection, as well as leather and leather fringe. I'm also thinking about dipping fabric in paint and painting designs on the fabric.

Fashion Voodoo

Now that Red Ball is over I've been working on an idea for a new collection. Most people who know me, know that I am a television addict. Lately my show of choice has been HBO's Treme. Since I've been watching Treme, I can't seem to shake images of Mardi Gras Indians and blues clubs from my mind.
